Job summary

UofL Health's University Hospital in Louisville seeks a Sterile Processing Technician-Lead to oversee decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of instruments across the Medical Center complex. In this role you will mentor staff, assign daily tasks, monitor equipment, and ensure compliance with AAMI, AORN, and CDC standards while delivering high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 18 months sterile processing experience.
• Double Certification by a nationally recognized program required (CRCST or CSPDT AND CIS or SIS).
• CHL or CSPM Certification must be obtained within 12 months from date of hire.

Responsibilities

• Acts as a preceptor for new employees.
• Assigns daily work schedule and coaches technicians on quality errors in the absence of a supervisor.
• Monitors workflow, prioritizes work, and adjusts assignments to accommodate need.
• Monitors all processing equipment and notifies appropriate repair person when a malfunction occurs.
• Operates all processing equipment used within the department.
• Maintains responsibility for returned instrumentation and supplies and ensures packaging integrity.
