Job summary

Northern Montana Hospital (NMH) is seeking a Sterile Processing Coordinator to oversee daily SPD operations, ensuring safe and compliant processing of reusable medical devices and instruments. You will work with OR staff, Infection Prevention, and Materials Management to sustain patient safety and efficiency.

The role requires a background in sterile processing with leadership experience; certifications such as CRCST/CSPDT are preferred and may be required within 1 year of hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree in healthcare or related field preferred.
• Minimum three to five years of sterile processing experience preferred.
• Previous lead technician, coordinator, or advanced sterile processing experience preferred.
• Experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred.
• CRCST or CSPDT certification preferred and required within 1 year of hire.
• Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS) and Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the daily operations of the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant processing of reusable medical devices and surgical instrumentation.
• Provide operational oversight, staff support, quality monitoring, regulatory compliance coordination, and workflow management.
• Collaborate with operating room staff, surgeons, Infection Prevention, Materials Management, and other clinical departments to promote patient safety and efficiency.
• Provide day-to-day operational coordination and workflow direction for Sterile Processing personnel (not responsible for hiring, disciplinary actions, or budget).

About the role

The Sterile Processing Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the daily operations of the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) to ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant processing of reusable medical devices and surgical instrumentation. Under the direction of the Director of Surgical Services, the Coordinator provides operational oversight, staff support, quality monitoring, regulatory compliance coordination, and workflow management to ensure instrument availability for surgical and procedural services. The Coordinator works collaboratively with operating room staff, surgeons, Infection Prevention, Materials Management, and other clinical departments to promote patient safety, operational efficiency, and adherence to evidence-based sterile processing standards. This position provides day-to-day operational coordination and workflow direction for Sterile Processing personnel but does not have responsibility for hiring, disciplinary actions, performance evaluations, or budget management. Such responsibilities remain with the Director of Surgical Services.

Qualifications

• Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) certification preferred and required within 1 year of hire.
• Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS) and Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) experience preferred.

Starting pay range is $28.42 - $32.85 and varies based on experience.
