Job summary

Northern Montana Hospital in Havre, MT is seeking a Sterile Processing Coordinator to oversee the SPD's daily operations. You will ensure safe, compliant processing of reusable medical devices and instruments, coordinating with OR staff, Infection Prevention, Materials Management, and other clinical teams.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree in healthcare or related field preferred.
  • Minimum three to five years of sterile processing experience preferred.
  • Previous lead technician, coordinator, or advanced sterile processing experience preferred.
  • Experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred.
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or CSPDT preferred and required within 1 year of hire.
  • Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS) and Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) experience preferred.

  • Provide operational oversight, staff support, quality monitoring, regulatory compliance coordination, and workflow management.

About the role

The Sterile Processing Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the daily operations of the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) to ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant processing of reusable medical devices and surgical instrumentation. Under the direction of the Director of Surgical Services, the Coordinator provides operational oversight, staff support, quality monitoring, regulatory compliance coordination, and workflow management to ensure instrument availability for surgical and procedural services. The Coordinator works collaboratively with operating room staff, surgeons, Infection Prevention, Materials Management, and other clinical departments to promote patient safety, operational efficiency, and adherence to evidence-based sterile processing standards. This position provides day-to-day operational coordination and workflow direction for Sterile Processing personnel but does not have responsibility for hiring, disciplinary actions, performance evaluations, or budget management. Such responsibilities remain with the Director of Surgical Services.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree in healthcare or related field preferred.
  • Minimum three to five years of sterile processing experience preferred.
  • Previous lead technician, coordinator, or advanced sterile processing experience preferred.
  • Experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred.
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) certification preferred and required within 1 year of hire.
  • Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS) and Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) experience preferred.
