Job summary

United Surgical Partners International Inc (USPI) is seeking a Lead Central Sterile Processing Tech at Lawrenceville Surgery Center in Georgia. The role requires leadership in sterile processing, adherence to policies, and ensuring uninterrupted instrument availability.

Qualifications

• Certification required – CRCST or equivalent.
• 1–2 years of experience as Instrument Room Technician or equivalent.
• Must be a Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Tech (SPD).

Responsibilities

• Perform sterilization-related tasks per approved procedures.
• Adhere to sterilization policies; maintain equipment and instrumentation.
• Inspect instruments for proper working condition.
• Operate decontamination equipment and autoclaves.
• Maintain logs for biological/chemical monitoring.
• Ensure instrument racks and supplies are organized and available.
• Coordinate AMI standards for instrument sterilization.
• Report breaks in sterile technique and take policy-aligned action.

Lead Central Sterile Processing Tech at Lawrenceville Surgery Center:

• Performes specified functions to meet the requirements of each approved procedure.
• Adheres to sterilization process policies and procedures.
• Inspects equipment / instruments for proper working condition.
• Maintains equipment / instrumentation according to manufactures recommendations.
• Accurately labels / dates sterilized equipment / instruments
• Maintains availability of instruments and equipment to avoid delays.
• Reports observed or suspected breaks in sterile technique and takes action according to policy.
• Correctly operates decontamination equipment, autoclaves, Steris equipment.
• Performs required biological chemical monitoring tests on all sterilizers and maintains logs according to policy and procedure.
• Performs checks for outdated items or package integrity.
• Keeps instrument racks in organized manner.
• Maintains adequate supplies for the sterile processing area.
• Coordinates and implements AMI standards for the sterilization of instruments and supplies.
• Performs other tasks and duties as assigned in an efficient, effective and cost-conscious manner, complying with USPI’s policies, procedures and regulations.

Qualifications

Education:

• High school graduate or equivalent.

Licensure/Certification:

• Certification required – CRCST or equivalent

Required Experience:

• 1-2-year previous experience as Instrument Room Technician or equivalent experience
• Capacity to learn use of sterilizers.
• Possess good communication skills.
• Must be a Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Tech (SPD)
