Job summary

Lawrenceville Surgery Center is seeking a Lead Central Sterile Processing Technician to join our team in full-time capacity. This role requires oversight of sterilization processes, instrument integrity, and adherence to policy to ensure safe patient care.

The ideal candidate will have 1–2 years of Instrument Room Technician experience, CRCST certification, and strong communication skills to coordinate with OR and nursing staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• CRCST certification required or equivalent.
• 1–2 years’ experience as Instrument Room Technician or related role.
• Must be a Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Tech (SPD).
• Good communication skills and ability to learn sterilization equipment.

Responsibilities

• Performs functions to meet requirements of procedures.
• Adheres to sterilization policies and procedures.
• Inspects and maintains instruments/equipment.
• Operates decontamination equipment and sterilizers.
• Maintains logs and checks for item integrity.
• Ensures instrument racks are organized and supplies are adequate.

Lead Central Sterile Processing Tech at Lawrenceville Surgery Center:

• Performs specified functions to meet the requirements of each approved procedure.
• Adheres to sterilization process policies and procedures.
• Inspects equipment / instruments for proper working condition.
• Maintains equipment / instrumentation according to manufactures recommendations.
• Accurately labels / dates sterilized equipment / instruments
• Maintains availability of instruments and equipment to avoid delays.
• Reports observed or suspected breaks in sterile technique and takes action according to policy.
• Correctly operates decontamination equipment, autoclaves, Steris equipment.
• Performs required biological chemical monitoring tests on all sterilizers and maintains logs according to policy and procedure.
• Performs checks for outdated items or package integrity.
• Keeps instrument racks in organized manner.
• Maintains adequate supplies for the sterile processing area.
• Coordinates and implements AMI standards for the sterilization of instruments and supplies.
• Performs other tasks and duties as assigned in an efficient, effective and cost-conscious manner, complying with USPI’s policies, procedures and regulations.

Qualifications

Education

• High school graduate or equivalent.

Licensure/Certification

• Certification required – CRCST or equivalent

Required Experience

• 1-2-year previous experience as Instrument Room Technician or equivalent experience
• Capacity to learn use of sterilizers.
• Possess good communication skills.
• Must be a Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Tech (SPD)
