Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Specialty Pharmacy Technician I to prepare sterile medications and IV admixtures in a hospital pharmacy setting. You will work closely with pharmacists, nurses, and healthcare professionals to ensure patient safety and accurate dispensing of medications.

Ideal candidates have a strong aseptic technique background, familiarity with USP 797, and EPIC software experience.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; relevant certifications preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of hospital or similar experience.
• Strong knowledge of aseptic techniques, USP <797> standards, and compounding equipment.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance standards.
• Attention to detail with a commitment to a sterile environment.
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
• Proficiency with EPIC and familiarity with medications (brand/generic).
• Pharmacy Technician License or Certification is required within 180 days.

Responsibilities

• Sterile compounding of IV admixtures and sterile products per protocols and USP <797>.
• Maintain aseptic technique throughout the compounding process.
• Conduct quality assurance, cleaning, testing, and monitoring of equipment and cleanrooms.
• Inventory management and restocking of sterile drugs and supplies.
• Maintain accurate batch records, logs, and quality control documentation.
• Collaborate with pharmacists, nurses, and other staff to ensure timely medication delivery.
• Follow safety protocols, PPE use, and waste disposal guidelines.
• Assist pharmacists with labeling, dispensing, and regulatory compliance.
• Stay current with industry trends and ongoing education in sterile compounding.
