Cura Talent Ltd. Basalt, Colorado seeks a Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician to join a growing 503A operation. You’ll work closely with the Pharmacist in Charge to prepare patient-specific sterile medications under supervision, ensuring accuracy and adherence to procedures.

This hands-on role emphasizes aseptic technique, environmental monitoring, documentation, and cross-training as the pharmacy scales across markets, offering long‑term growth as the operation expands.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Preparing sterile compounded medications under pharmacist supervision
• Performing aseptic manipulations within primary engineering controls
• Maintaining first air awareness throughout the compounding process
• Completing hand hygiene, garbing, and cleaning procedures correctly
• Following procedures for material transfer into controlled areas
• Preparing both hazardous and non-hazardous compounded medications
• Following USP <795>, <797>, and <800> requirements
• Documenting batches and patient-specific information accurately
• Recording ingredients, lot numbers, quantities, times, personnel and quality checks
• Preparing medications for pharmacist verification
• Checking supplies for expiration, integrity, and suitability
• Supporting cleanroom cleaning and disinfection activities
• Maintaining cleaning and equipment records
• Participating in environmental monitoring and quality control
• Continuing sterile compounding competency assessments
• Assisting with non-sterile compounding when required
• Monitoring inventory and communicating supply needs

The Role

You’ll work closely with the Pharmacist in Charge, pharmacists, and the quality team to prepare patient‑specific sterile compounded medications.

This is a hands‑on role within the sterile operation, where attention to detail and following proper procedures are critical.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing sterile compounded medications under pharmacist supervision
• Performing aseptic manipulations within primary engineering controls
• Maintaining proper first air awareness throughout the compounding process
• Completing hand hygiene, garbing, and cleaning procedures correctly
• Following established procedures for material transfer into controlled areas
• Preparing both hazardous and non hazardous compounded medications
• Following applicable USP <795>, USP <797> and USP <800> requirements
• Completing accurate batch and patient specific documentation
• Recording ingredients, lot numbers, quantities, calculations, times, personnel and quality checks
• Preparing completed medications for pharmacist verification
• Checking ingredients and supplies for expiration, integrity, and suitability
• Supporting cleanroom cleaning and disinfection activities

• Participating in environmental monitoring and other quality control activities
• Completing ongoing sterile compounding competency assessments
• Assisting with non sterile compounding when required
• Monitoring inventory and communicating supply requirements
• Escalating any contamination concerns, deviations, spills, or equipment issues immediately
• Supporting the pharmacy with inspection readiness and quality initiatives

What they’re looking for

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Active Colorado pharmacy technician registration, or ability to obtain registration
• Ability to complete required sterile compounding and hazardous drug training
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Comfortable performing pharmacy calculations and maintaining detailed records
• Ability to follow SOPs and established procedures consistently
• Ability to safely work with hazardous non‑chemotherapy medications
• Reliable attendance and a strong team mentality
• Willingness to continue developing sterile compounding knowledge and skills

Preferred:

• National pharmacy technician certification through a Colorado Board‑approved organization
• At least one year of sterile compounding or cleanroom experience
• Experience working in both sterile and non sterile compounding
• Previous 503A pharmacy experience
• Familiarity with USP <795>, USP <797> and USP <800>
• Experience with environmental monitoring or pharmacy quality systems
