Shifts include 6:30 a.m.

– 3:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m., with alternating evening weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• CPhT certification required within 6 months of hire.
• Preferred: one year or less related experience.

Responsibilities

• Identifies and fills medications, surgical kits, medication carts, emergency crash carts, requisitions, and specialty items.
• Prepares sterile compounds and IV admixtures including hazardous medications, chemotherapy, and biologics.
• Fills and labels medications according to a computer-generated profile.
• Packages medications into unit-of-use form and logs each preparation.
• Delivers medications to nursing units and retrieves discontinued medications.
• Maintains inventory of automated dispensing cabinets and rotates stock to reduce waste.
• Assists in ordering, receiving, and storing pharmaceuticals and supplies.
• Replaces returned medications and rotates inventory as needed.
• Controls and checks medications outside the department with inspections.
• Handles controlled substances securely and reconciles dispenses.
• Enter patient charges and credit information into the computer.
• Maintains logs and documentation.
