Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Pharmacy Technician III - Hazardous Compounding for the Prentice 15th floor pharmacy, with rotation to other sites as needed. The role includes preparing sterile and hazardous medications, inventory management, and supporting pharmacists in patient care.

Requires Illinois license and CPhT/ExCPT certification, plus NM sterile prep training within 180 days. Regular full-time schedule (40 hrs/wk) with rotating AM/PM shifts, every-other weekend, and winter/summer

Qualifications

• Licensed pharmacy technician with state approval in Illinois.
• Certification in pharmacy technology required for technicians licensed after 2008.
• Completion of NM training program in compounded sterile preparations within 180 days.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and dispense medications for inpatients and outpatients.
• Enter and verify orders in the computer system.
• Maintain inventory and expedites hazardous compounds.
• Support pharmacists in preparing sterile and cytotoxic preparations.
• Ensure compliance with regulations and safety procedures.
