Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health seeks a Specialty Pharmacy Technician II to join the team in New Jersey. You will prepare sterile medications, including IV admixtures and chemotherapy products, while maintaining strict aseptic technique and regulatory compliance.

You will collaborate with pharmacists and nurses to ensure safe, timely medication delivery, manage inventory, document processes, and uphold safety protocols in a high‑reliability healthcare environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 2 years sterile compounding experience.
• Minimum of 2 years hospital or similar experience.
• Minimum of 6 months of hazardous compounding experience.
• Strong knowledge of aseptic techniques, USP and standards, and compounding equipment.
• Experience in the utilization of CTSD devices and tubing to prepare complex chemotherapy products.
• Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements and compliance standards.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a sterile environment.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team.
• Proficiency in using software and computer applications such as EPIC.
• Strong knowledge of brand/generic hazardous medications.

Responsibilities

• Prepare sterile medications including IV admixtures and other sterile products per protocols.
• Maintain aseptic technique to minimize contamination and ensure patient safety.
• Conduct routine cleaning, testing, and monitoring of compounding equipment and cleanrooms.
• Manage inventory of sterile drugs and supplies.
• Document compounding activities with batch records and quality control documentation.
• Collaborate with pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to meet patient needs and timely delivery of medications.
• Adhere to safety protocols and regulations, including hazardous drug handling and PPE use.
• Stay current with industry guidelines through ongoing education and training.
• Load and verify medications into automated dispensing cabinets (ADC) with barcode scanning.
• Assist licensed pharmacists to formulate, label and dispense medications.
