Job summary

NCH is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support sterile compounding and related inpatient duties across its Southwest Florida health system. The role ensures compliance with USP standards, maintains competency records, and collaborates with pharmacy leadership and infection prevention to uphold patient safety and regulatory readiness.

The technician performs both sterile and non-sterile compounding tasks, coordinates environmental and equipment documentation, and supports inventory management

Qualifications

• Must be a registered Florida Pharmacy Technician.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certificate required.
• ASHP certificate in sterile compounding within 3 months of start date.
• >1 year experience in hazardous and non-hazardous sterile compounding.
• Working knowledge of aseptic technique, first-air protection, cleaning and disinfecting of engineering controls, and hazardous drug handling.
• Experience supporting USP 797/800 compliance, environmental monitoring, competency testing, audits, and accreditation surveys.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for all sterile hazardous and non-hazardous compounding operations on the two NCH hospital campuses.
• Pharmacy personnel competency and qualification surveillance; verify competency evidence with documentation and lab reports.
• Ensure glove fingertip sampling records are current.
• Environmental monitoring, cleaning, and facilities documentation; review logs for completeness and maintain schedules for regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate and educate on non-sterile (USP <795>) compounding.
• Quality assurance and survey readiness of sterile compounding environments across campuses.
• IV room inventory, supply, and workflow support; maintain par levels and reduce expirations and waste.
• Serve as technician resource and preceptor for new hires; provide timely, factual feedback when deviations occur.
