Job summary

Henry Ford Health (HFH) Corporate Pharmacy seeks a highly skilled Pharmacist for its Centralized Sterile Compounding Center in Detroit.

The role focuses on safe, compliant sterile compounding, including TPN and IV chemotherapy, with mentorship of interns and collaboration with site teams to enhance patient care and operational excellence.

Ideal candidates have at least 2 years in sterile compounding, knowledge of USP <797>, <800>, and EPIC, and are licensed or eligible in Michigan.

Qualifications

• Degree from an accredited college of pharmacy.
• Licensed or eligible for Michigan licensure within 30 days of hire.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Deep understanding of pathophysiology and pharmacotherapy.
• Ability to participate in teaching programs and train students.
• Minimum of 2 years of sterile compounding experience in acute care or related settings.
• Knowledge of TPN, automated IV compounding devices, EPIC, and related standards.
• Must be licensed or eligible for licensure in Michigan.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive, patient-oriented pharmacy services on your shift.
• Exercise sound management and clinical judgment.
• Assist in identifying and resolving problems within your assigned area.
• Participate in training interns and externs.
• Disseminate drug information effectively to health care staff.
• Collaborate with coordinators and staff to improve patient services.
• Oversight of sterile compounding activities and supervision of technical staff.
• Prepares patient specific (TPN, IV chemotherapy) and batch sterile compounds.
• Performs final CSP visual inspection, verification, labeling, and storage.
• Maintains all required documentation for cleanroom facilities and environment.
• Maintains all required documentation for patient-specific and anticipatory batch sterile compounded products.
• Communicates with pharmacy sites regarding patient specific orders or batch compounds.
• Responds to and triages product or delivery concerns.
• Assists in the evaluation and deployment of new CSPs.
• Collaborates with pharmacy staff to maintain accurate medication and supply inventory.
• Ensures compliance with USP <797>, USP <800>, FDA regulations, and HFH policies.
• Partners with CSCC team members and leadership to identify and implement process improvements.
• Assists with preparation of the pharmacy for inspections (FDA, NABP, DEA, TJC, state boards).
• Respond and triage telephone and electronic message inquiries.
• Receive orders and prepare and package medications for delivery.
• Performs pharmacy cleaning as needed.
• Assist with training of staff and precepting as required.
• Other duties and projects as assigned.
• Acts as operational leader as required.
