Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education or related field; Master’s degree or higher preferred.
• Minimum of three years experience as a middle or high school teacher preferred.
• NC Professional Educator's License preferred, but not required; Must be eligible to obtain license within 3 years.
• Possess a deep commitment to serve the needs of students and families who are first generation college goers and those typically underrepresented in postsecondary education and STEM fields.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver rigorous engaging lessons in ways that build upon individual strengths and offer students maximum opportunities to participate in the planning and direction of their own learning experience.
• Engage all students in learning using a contextual project based instructional format
• Lead students to develop soft skills, including critical thinking, problem solving, communication, and collaboration skills
• Utilize technology to facilitate instruction and maximize student learning
• Employ a variety of assessment tools and strategies to measure student progress toward learning, college and career goals
• Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet students' varying needs
• Counsel students through service as an Advisor in the Advisory Program
• Promote high expectations and the skills needed for success beyond high school
• Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs
• Promote family support of students’ learning experience within the context of multicultural understanding and competencies
• Promote and enhance the instructional program by leveraging home, school, and community partnerships to address barriers to learning and achievement
• Develop and provide training and educational programs that address the goals and mission of the educational institution
• Demonstrate personal commitment to professional growth through participation in professional learning activities
• Contributes as a member of a high performing team
• Performs other duties as assigned and as necessary to fulfill the day-to-day needs of the school
