Job summary

Discovery Center of Idaho is seeking an Education Specialist to lead STEM educational programming and oversee staff and volunteers. The role supports camps, field trips, homeschool programs, and special events, coordinating with Exhibits, Operations, and Marketing to ensure engaging experiences.

The position involves leadership responsibilities, budget management, and partnership development with schools and community organizations. Evening/weekend availability and background check are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education, STEM, Museum Studies or related field.
• Five years of experience in education, program management, museums, science centers or nonprofit leadership.
• Experience supervising staff and volunteers.
• Strong organizational, communication and leadership skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
• Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends and pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, and evaluate camps, field trips, homeschool programs and events.
• Collaborate with Exhibits, Operations and Marketing to integrate educational content.
• Supervise, mentor, and evaluate education staff, volunteers and seasonal instructors.
• Manage department budget, schedules, purchasing, and program resources.
• Build partnerships with schools, libraries, and community organizations; support outreach and fundraising.
