Job summary

UC Santa Barbara’s Benioff Ocean Science Laboratory seeks an Education and Science Engagement Coordinator to administer education and science engagement programming in the Los Angeles/Long Beach area, near the San Pedro port complex. The role focuses on air quality data, student learning, and community partnerships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education, public health, environmental science, communications, or related field.
• At least 3 years of relevant professional experience and/or a master's degree, or relevant certifications.
• Experience developing and creating education modules, activity guides, and session plans.

Responsibilities

• Develop informal after-school education modules focused on environmental data science, air quality, and public health.
• Administer education programming and program delivery to students, teachers, and communities.
• Collaborate with community and school groups to organize events, field trips, and other activities.
• Build and manage partnerships with schools, communities, and local residents.
• Manage logistics, budgets, and administrative tasks related to education and science engagement programs.
• Pursue creative opportunities to improve and expand programs and initiatives.
• Provide basic support to research activities and act as a community liaison for sensor data.
