Job summary

UC Santa Barbara's Benioff Ocean Science Laboratory seeks an Education and Science Engagement Coordinator to develop and deliver informal education programs for high school students in the Los Angeles/Long Beach area, focusing on environmental data science, air quality and public health.

You will build partnerships with local schools and communities, manage logistics and budgets, and coordinate hands-on modules with support from UCSB and UC Berkeley experts, including occasional travel to UCSB.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required at the time of application.
• At least 3 years of experience or a master's degree; fingerprint screening and TB test requirements at appointment.
• Preferred: experience creating education materials and teaching in STEM or data science.

Responsibilities

• Develop informal after-school education modules focused on environmental data science.
• Administer education programming for students, teachers, and communities.
• Collaborate with schools to organize events, field trips, and activities.
• Build and manage partnerships with schools, communities and local residents.
• Manage logistics, budgets, and administrative tasks for education programs.
• Pursue opportunities to expand programs and initiatives.
• Support research activities by communicating sensor data to communities.
• Assist with other outreach programs as needed.
