Luna Community College in Las Vegas, New Mexico seeks a Chemistry instructor to teach required courses for certificates and associate degrees in STEM. You will prepare lectures, develop lesson plans, assign and grade assessments, and support program and curriculum development.
The position requires travel to satellite locations, active involvement in accreditation reporting, and providing counseling and tutoring to students, while fostering a positive learning environment.

This position is responsible for instructing students in required academic courses in Chemistry necessary for the pursuit of certificates and associates degrees in the area of STEM. The incumbent in this role will be required to complete all required and necessary assessment reports related to the course(s) taught at the request of the college/Academic Director as it relates to accreditation and assessment. The incumbent in the position will be required to travel to satellite locations and/or locations designed by the college for instruction.
At least 18 credit hours at the graduate level in the subject matter teaching area. Knowledge of adult-learning theory, curriculum development and classroom, laboratory, and field presentation techniques. Knowledge of counseling and advising methods and techniques. Knowledge of research methodology and information resources related to designated field(s) of study. Basic supervisory and coaching principles and practices. Proficient in operating equipment and performing work related to designated field(s) of study. Ability to deliver courses in-person and online platforms as needed and identified by the college. Ability to prepare and present classroom lectures and class work. Proficient in the use of standard office equipment and applications including Microsoft Suites and other platforms used by the college. Proficient in assessment practices and standards.
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading and visual inspection. The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions. This position is not a remote position and serves the college from the Las Vegas, New Mexico campus. This position may be required to travel to various satellite/site locations for instructional and other purposes as designated by the college. Must possess and maintain a valid drivers license without restrictions.
