Job summary

The University of Miami Health System is seeking dedicated nursing staff to deliver direct patient care. You will assess assigned patients, document nursing care, and adjust plans based on patient responses and physician orders.

As part of a multidisciplinary team, you’ll consult with physicians, prepare patients for procedures, administer medications, and maintain accurate records in compliance with HIPAA. You may also contribute to discharge planning and mentor new staff.

Responsibilities

• Assess assigned patients and evaluate plans to document nursing care.
• Modify patient treatment plans based on patient responses, conditions and physician orders.
• Consult with physicians and other healthcare professionals to plan, implement and evaluate patient care.
• Prepare patients for, and assist with examinations, procedures, and treatments.
• Administer medications and maintain accurate records per regulations and physician orders.
• Communicate plan of care to patient, family, and team while ensuring HIPAA compliance.
• Assist with discharge planning and safely operate medical equipment.
• Serve as a preceptor to new staff in the provision of care.
