Job summary

CooperSurgical is seeking a Laboratory Processing Technician to handle cord blood and cord tissue samples at the Tucson site. You will operate at multiple workstations, maintain certifications, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance.

The role requires attention to detail, ability to follow SOPs, and commitment to quality in a fast-paced lab environment, with overtime as needed and on-site work in Tucson, AZ.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Laboratory Science or MLT/CLT.
  • High school diploma with 2 years of equivalent work experience.
  • 1 year of experience working at CBR or equivalent.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable.

Responsibilities

  • Process cord blood and cord tissue samples at all workstations trained and maintain certifications.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and report hazards or deviations to the supervisor.
  • Perform tasks in compliance with SOPs and external regulations.
  • Maintain training and keep up to date with required certifications.
  • Audit, verify, and maintain accurate records.

Scope

Process once in a lifetime cord blood and cord tissue samples that are received at CBR Tucson, ensuring that the samples are treated with the highest regard for quality and efficiency.

Job Summary

Process cord blood and cord tissue samples under the direction of the Stem Cell Processing leadership team.

Responsibilities
  • Process cord blood and cord tissue samples at all workstations trained and maintain certifications.
  • Adhere to guidelines set forth in safety manual. Understand job hazard analysis concerns and communicate safety issues, deviations from procedures, anomalies, and abnormalities to responsible parties.
  • Perform all assigned duties in compliance with internal policies, processes and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as well as external regulations as determined by regulatory agencies.
  • Remain current in all training.
  • Audit, verify, and maintain accurate records.
  • Maintain donor, client, and employee confidentiality.
  • Perform repetitive tasks while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Evaluate disposables and equipment for non‑conformities and notify responsible parties (QC, Supervisor, and/or Management).
  • Perform daily department startup/shutdown checklist tasks and documentation.
  • Perform general lab cleaning and maintenance.
  • Work extended hours as needed, including mandatory overtime.

Qualifications

Work Environment

Schedule / Work Hour Requirements: This is an onsite position in Tucson, AZ. Work hours are dictated by lab requirements and may include mid‑shifts, weekends, and holidays. Overtime must be approved by a Supervisor and documented in the timekeeping system. Must report within 1.5 hours from the receipt of notification if on call for a shift.

    • Wear personal protective equipment while utilizing liquid nitrogen and working with equipment that maintains extreme low temperatures.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s or Associate degree, preferably in Laboratory Science or MLT/CLT.
  • Or high school diploma with 2 years of equivalent work experience.
  • Or 1 year of experience working at CBR.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
