Job summary

Schuff Steel Co in Humble, TX is seeking an Experienced Utility Yardman to move steel, load/unload trucks, and operate forklifts and related equipment. The role supports production in a fast-paced plant and yard environment with emphasis on safety and timely material handling.

Responsibilities include transporting materials, loading equipment, and maintaining organized work areas while complying with safety rules and PPE requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and two years of experience operating 30,000 lbs forklifts or bigger.
• Experience with crane, rigging and forklifts.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.

Responsibilities

• Move steel out of the shop on a timely basis to support production.
• Load and unload trucks and trailers.
• Load and unload paint racks and sandblasting racks.
• Band steel to pallets and bundles using the banding machine.
• Operate forklifts in a safe manner.
• Maintain equipment operation and upkeep.
• Transport materials by forklift as needed.
• Keep work area organized and clean.
• Adhere to safety rules and PPE requirements.
