Job summary

North Shore Steel is hiring a Forklift Operator in Houston to move steel material safely with heavy forklifts and coordinate around cranes. You will perform inspections, verify material details, and support safe distribution operations.

The role requires attention to safety, load balancing, and teamwork with the Distribution Supervisor. Overtime may be required; full benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of forklift or heavy material-handling experience in steel distribution or similar environments.
• Ability to safely handle large, long, heavy, and irregularly shaped material.
• Knowledge of forklift capacities and load limits.
• Understanding of overhead crane operation and rigging.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily forklift inspections and report deficiencies.
• Identify material and verify tags, heat numbers, and quantities.
• Safely transport and position steel products with proper load balance.
• Coordinate with coworkers to move material around cranes and equipment.
• Maintain safe, organized storage and assist with stock checks.
