Fidelity Manufacturing, LLC. is seeking skilled Steel Welders in McGregor, Texas to fabricate tanks, frames, and enclosures using MIG welding.

The role requires reading blueprints, performing setup and welding operations, and adhering to safety and quality standards in a fast-paced fabrication environment. Candidates should have welding experience, pass a weld test, and be able to read fabrication drawings and measurements.

Job Summary

The Steel Welder is responsible for assembling and welding steel components using MIG welding techniques to fabricate tanks, structural assemblies, frames, brackets, and related products. This role performs setup, layout, fit-up, tack-up, and final welding operations while maintaining compliance with engineering drawings, quality standards, and safety requirements.

The ideal candidate will possess strong welding skills, the ability to read blueprints and fabrication drawings, and experience working with fabrication tools and equipment. Successful candidates will demonstrate attention to detail, quality workmanship, and a commitment to safety while supporting production goals and customer requirements.

Essential Job Functions
Welding & Fabrication
  • MIG weld steel and stainless-steel components.
  • Perform setup, layout, fit-up, and tack-up of tanks, frames, brackets, and structural assemblies.
  • Square and weld various component configurations while maintaining dimensional accuracy.
  • Perform welding in vertical and horizontal positions.
  • Build assemblies to specified tolerances and quality requirements.
  • Interpret fabrication drawings, blueprints, weld symbols, and work instructions.
  • Verify measurements and fitment using tape measures and measuring devices.
  • Support fabrication activities related to tanks, enclosures, and structural components.
Equipment & Tool Operation
  • Operate welding equipment safely and effectively.
  • Utilize grinders, band saws, hand tools, clamps, and fabrication equipment.
  • Operate forklifts and material handling equipment as authorized.
  • Use measuring tools and inspection devices to verify quality and compliance.
  • Support material movement and staging activities as needed.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and workstations in proper condition.
Quality & Production
  • Inspect work for conformance to specifications and quality requirements.
  • Maintain accuracy and consistency throughout fabrication and welding processes.
    Security & Teamwork
    • Follow all company safety policies and PPE requirements.
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
    • Support environmental health and safety initiatives throughout the facility.
    • Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and support departments.
    • Work collaboratively to achieve departmental and plant objectives.
    • Participate in safety training and required certification programs.
    • Demonstrate professionalism and accountability in all work activities.
    Qualifications
    Required Qualifications
    • High School Diploma or GED.
    • Successful completion of a weld test as part of the hiring process.
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and work instructions.
    • Ability to read a tape measure and verify dimensions accurately.
    • Experience using hand tools associated with welding and fabrication.
    • Basic mathematical and measurement skills.
    • Strong attention to detail and hand-eye coordination.
    • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
    • Commitment to safe work practices and proper PPE usage.
    • Background check and pre-employment drug screening required.
    Highly Preferred
    • MIG welding experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
    • Experience welding tanks, structural assemblies, frames, or industrial equipment.
    • Forklift operating experience.
    • Experience interpreting weld symbols and fabrication drawings.
    • Experience working with stainless steel and carbon steel materials.
    • Experience supporting startup operations or rapidly growing manufacturing facilities.
    Preferred
    • Technical school, trade school, welding certification, or related training.
    • Knowledge of fabrication processes and fit-up techniques.
    • Experience with overhead cranes, rigging, and material handling equipment.
    • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
    Working Conditions

    Work is performed in an active manufacturing and fabrication environment. The role involves regular exposure to loud noise, welding fumes, sparks, heat, dust, airborne particles, vibration, and fluctuating indoor and outdoor temperatures within OSHA-permissible limits.

    Employees regularly work around welding equipment, fabrication machinery, forklifts, heavy materials, and active production operations. Overtime or extended hours may occasionally be required to support production demands.

    Required PPE, including welding helmets, gloves, safety eyewear, hearing protection, flame-resistant clothing, and steel-toe footwear, must be worn at all times in designated work areas.

    Physical Requirements
    • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
    • Ability to work on concrete, metal, and other industrial surfaces.
    • Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, reach, climb, and maintain balance while performing welding and fabrication tasks.
    • Ability to use hands and fingers for precise control of welding tools, materials, and components.
    • Ability to perform repetitive motions associated with welding, grinding, fitting, and material handling.
    • Ability to visually inspect welds, dimensions, and fabrication details for quality and accuracy.
    • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
    • Ability to safely operate forklifts and shop equipment as authorized.
    • Ability to communicate effectively in a manufacturing environment.
