Job summary

Zekelman Industries in Birmingham, AL is seeking a Warehouse Associate to ensure efficient handling and shipment of steel tube and pipe products in a fast-paced setting. You will follow safety and quality standards, prepare orders, pick, pack, load shipments, inspect incoming materials, operate forklifts and pallet jacks, and support shipping/receiving improvements.

HS diploma required; 2+ years warehouse experience preferred; good math, communication, and problem-solving skills; ability to lift

Qualifications

• 2+ years warehouse experience in steel or tubing or equivalent education/experience
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training is a plus
• Basic math skills to accurately process orders, fractions and decimals
• Strong communication to collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide updates

Responsibilities

• Champions and enforces safe work practices and adheres to policies and regulations
• Prepares materials for distribution and shipment, ensuring proper handling and packaging
• Processes and fulfills orders with internal teams and customers
• Picks, packs and stages orders with accurate quantities and specs
• Loads shipments onto flatbed trucks or LTL carriers safely
• Inspects incoming materials and ensures quality standards
• Replenishes stock and uses forklifts or reach trucks as needed
• Operates warehouse equipment efficiently (forklifts, order pickers, reach trucks, pallet jacks)
• Standardizes and optimizes shipping and receiving procedures
• Performs additional duties as assigned
