Lapham-Hickey Steel Corporation is seeking a full-time Slitter Operator for our Madison, Illinois plant. Responsibilities include setting up and operating a slitter to meet customer specs, inspecting and recording quality data, and ensuring production instructions are followed.

The role requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, operate crane/forklift as needed, and collaborate with the production team to maintain safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of crane and forklift operation preferred.
• Ability to set up and operate slitter per customer specs.
• Ability to read and follow work orders and document accordingly.
• Ability to work with others and work independently.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Inspect setups to ensure alignment with production instructions.
• Reconcile coil identity with production and load coil.
• Thread coil through slitter-head and crop non-compliant material.
• Record gauge, width, hardness, camber, burr, and surface per instructions.
• Set and monitor gauge systems and calibration.
• Thread steel mults into recoiler and prepare for slit.
• Adjust leveler to correct shape defects during slitting.
• Operate at max speed with accuracy and efficiency.
• Identify and document non-conformances and communicate to supervisor.
