Job summary

Lapham-Hickey Steel is seeking a Crane Operator in Madison, IL to safely operate overhead cranes and other heavy equipment. You will lift, move, and position materials, band finished products for shipment, and inspect equipment prior to use to ensure reliability and safety.

The role requires certification and 2+ years of industrial experience, strong communication, and the ability to work in demanding environments on 1st shift (6:00a-2:30p).

Qualifications

• Valid crane operator certification recognized by OSHA or equivalent regulatory body.
• Minimum of 2 years experience operating overhead cranes and heavy equipment in industrial or manufacturing settings.
• Demonstrated knowledge of hand tool usage.
• Ability to read and interpret load charts and safety manuals.
• Strong communication skills for effective coordination with team members.
• Physical ability to work in demanding environments.

Responsibilities

• Operate overhead cranes and other heavy equipment to lift, move, and position materials safely and efficiently when loading and unloading trucks.
• Banding finished product for shipment, receiving and inspection of incoming material.
• Inspect cranes equipment before use to ensure they are in proper working condition and report any defects.
• Coordinate with personnel and site supervisors to plan lifts and ensure load stability and safety.
• Follow all safety regulations and company policies to maintain a safe work environment.
• Maintain accurate records of crane operations, including load weights, lift times, and any incidents or maintenance performed.
• 1st Shift - Monday to Friday (6:00a - 2:30p)
