Triple-S Steel Holdings, Inc. in Houston seeks a motivated Material Handler to support safety, achieve daily productivity goals, ensure quality, and assist with routine and non-routine maintenance.

You will move steel to and from storage and production areas using hand tools, forklift, and overhead crane, while following work orders and safety procedures. Applicants should be able to lift up to 50 pounds for distances and heights specified, read orders accurately, and work well in team settings.

Qualifications

• Read work orders or instructions to determine material/equipment needs.
• Demonstrate ability to meet or exceed minimum productivity levels.
• Plan and organize work independently or in a team.
• Develop working knowledge of product and inventory control techniques.
• Maintain inter-department communications related to routing, safety, and customer relations.
• Demonstrate basic math skills (add/subtract/multiply/divide).
• May demonstrate strong customer relations skills.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety methods and report unsafe conditions to supervisor.
• Safely move steel to/from storage, production areas, using hand tools, forklift, or crane.
• Lift up to 50 pounds for up to 25 feet and operate with PPE.
• Apply proper bundling techniques.
• Configure loads for multiple stops and maximize trailer capacity.
• Maintain and operate tools and equipment (tape measure, caliper, micrometer, forklift, crane).
• Identify safety issues with equipment and report promptly.
• Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Maintain spatial awareness around moving objects.
• Attend required company meetings.
• Other duties as assigned.
