Job summary

AZZ Inc. is seeking a 1st shift forklift operator at our Blacksburg facility. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will move and load steel products safely and on time while maintaining strong customer relationships.

Prior experience loading steel is required. Duties include loading materials with forklifts, inspecting for damage, performing pre-shift checks, and ensuring a clean loading area. The role emphasizes safety and adherence to all policies and procedures, with opportunities for

Qualifications

Must have or obtain forklift certification.
Must be able to work flex hours including different shifts.
Must have experience loading steel.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Experience operating heavy machinery other than forklifts is preferred.
High School diploma or equivalent is required.

Responsibilities

Load building materials and components using standard and heavy-duty forklifts, especially Hyster models.
Ensure parts are accounted for, marked, and staged for loading.
Load material onto flatbed trailers.
Inspect material for damage before loading.
Perform pre-shift equipment inspections.
Maintain housekeeping and cleanliness of loading area.
Follow all company policies and safety procedures.
Demonstrate and uphold safety policies at all times.
Perform other duties as assigned.
