Position Summary

The Steel Fitter Foreman is responsible for coordinating outside steelworker department activities related to new ship construction, renovation, repair, and maintenance projects. The Steel Fitter Foreman will provide on-site direction by monitoring work progress, offering guidance, promoting accountability, ensuring quality standards, and meeting project deadlines. This is a leadership position with direct management of up to 40 employees.

Domestic travel may be required.

Essential Functions

• Read and interpret shipbuilding drawings, structural specifications, work packages, fabrication schedules, and engineering requirements to determine material needs and work sequences
• Plan and oversee steel fitting, structural fabrication, assembly, alignment, and installation activities for shipboard structures, tanks, compartments, and equipment
• Coordinate workforce assignments, monitor production schedules, and ensure steelfitting work is completed in accordance with quality, safety, environmental, and project requirements
• Plan activities and overtime as needed to meet project demands
