Qualifications

Experienced Steel Fabrication Welder

Pay Rate: $23–$33 per hour, based on experience
Schedule: Monday–Friday

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Steel Fabrication Welder to join our team. Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of professional steel fabrication and welding experience and demonstrate proficiency in Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) and Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW).

The ideal candidate must be able to read and interpret shop drawings, meet AWS D1.1 welding qualification requirements, and successfully complete the required welding tests without excessive practice.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of steel fabrication and welding experience required.
Proficiency in Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) and Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW).
Ability to read, interpret, and understand shop drawings, blueprints, welding symbols, and fabrication specifications.
Ability to pass AWS D1.1 welding qualification tests, including:
Unlimited 2G GMAW.
3G and 4G FCAW welding qualifications.
1-inch plate welding test.
Must demonstrate the required welding proficiency and pass the applicable tests without excessive practice.
Strong knowledge of steel fabrication, joint preparation, fit-up, welding techniques, and quality control.
Ability to produce consistent, high-quality welds that meet applicable specifications.
Strong attention to detail, reliability, and commitment to workplace safety.
Ability to work independently and meet production deadlines.
Willingness to complete a pre-employment drug screening.

Job Responsibilities

Weld and fabricate steel components according to shop drawings and specifications.
Fit, align, position, and assemble steel parts before welding.
Perform FCAW and GMAW welding on steel components.
Read and interpret shop drawings, measurements, and welding symbols.
Perform cutting, grinding, and joint preparation as required.
Inspect welds and finished components to ensure quality and accuracy.
Operate welding equipment and fabrication tools safely.
Maintain a clean and organized work area while following safety procedures.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand for extended periods.
Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
Ability to kneel, bend, stoop, and squat as needed.
Ability to push, pull, and reach overhead.
Ability to work in confined or awkward positions when required.
Ability to maintain production pace and meet deadlines.

Experience: Minimum 5 years required.
