Qualifications

Responsibilities

Welder

4-Day Workweek | Tuesday-Friday | 5:00 AM-3:30 PM

TOPS Staffing is hiring experienced Welders for a growing manufacturing operation. This is a hands‑on welding position focused on fabricating and assembling components made from carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.

Schedule & Pay

• Schedule: Tuesday-Friday
• Hours: 5:00 AM-3:30 PM
• Workweek: Four 10‑hour shifts
• Overtime: Monday is the designated overtime day, with many employees working a half‑day on Mondays when overtime is available.
• Starting Pay: $20-$23/hour, based on experience
• After Hire-In: Typical pay increases to $24-$27/hour once hired directly by the company.

What You'll Do

• Set up and operate welding equipment
• Weld fabricated metal components, subassemblies, and custom fabrications
• Weld carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum
• Use FCAW and GMAW welding processes
• Connect and adjust welding equipment for proper amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse settings
• Clean and degrease weld joints and workpieces
• Grind and prepare surfaces before welding
• Position, clamp, and fit components using jigs, fixtures, and other equipment
• Fit moderately complex assemblies
• Preheat materials when required
• Inspect welds for bead size and quality
• Remove excess weld, slag, and spatter
• Change welding wire spools and liners and perform routine equipment maintenance
• Safely operate overhead and jib cranes and forklifts when properly trained and authorized
• Follow all required safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE

What We're Looking For

• Welding experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, or structural steel environment
• Experience welding at least two of the following: carbon steel, stainless steel, or aluminum
• Experience with FCAW and GMAW
• Ability to set up and adjust welding equipment
• Ability to read and understand welding specifications and production requirements
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Ability to safely handle and position larger metal components
• Dependable attendance and punctuality
• Ability to work independently while also being part of a production team

Preferred/Required Welding Qualification

AWS D1.1 structural steel welding certification, 3G unlimited thickness in carbon steel using FCAW and GMAW, as specified by the company.
