Job summary

NANA Construction, LLC is seeking a Welders Helper to assist journeyman structural fitters and welders with assembling, cutting, and welding structural steel components on our Alaska project site.

Responsibilities include preparing steel members, laying out clips and holes, interpreting drawings, and assisting with various welding processes while operating cranes and forklifts as required. Safety and teamwork are essential in this role.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required or 10 years related experience.
• Minimum 6 months directly related experience.
• Good understanding of basic construction tools, processes, and procedures.
• Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record preferred under company vehicle insurance.

Responsibilities

• Prepare steel beams, plate, angle iron, and channel for welding or bolting using cutting torch, drills and grinders.
• Assist with layout of structural welding clips, plates, grating and holes.
• Interpret structural steel fabrication and assembly drawings.
• Operate OH cranes and forklifts and use correct hand signals.
• Handle and assess structural material grades, sizes, and weights.
• Set up equipment and assist welding using arc, gas-shielded arc, submerged arc, or gas welding.
• Assist with handling and blasting of structural steel using Wheelabrator.
• Signal equipment operator to align, move, and adjust.
• Assemble parts by bolting, welding or screwing.
• Report all incidents/accidents to supervisor.
