Spire Solutions, a Weitz Company subsidiary, is hiring an Estimator II – Steel in Des Moines, IA. You will support the estimating team by preparing portions of electrical estimates, compiling cost data, and assisting with bid development.

The role requires 2+ years in construction estimation, familiarity with steel estimates, and a construction-related degree. Procore and Bluebeam experience are a plus, with a strong emphasis on accuracy and organization.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience as an estimator in the construction industry.
• Experience with steel estimates is highly preferred.
• Degree in a construction-related field is desired.

Responsibilities

• Read and analyze technical plans/specifications and incorporate requirements into the estimate.
• Produce complete, well-documented quantity surveys for assigned items.
• Generate design development estimates with quantities based on incomplete plans.
• Assist in developing complete project quantities from schematic plans.
• Solicit sub and vendor quotes and communicate scope clearly.
• Ensure complete trade coverage and flag gaps in scope.
• Prepare bid tickets and cost breakdowns for proposals.
• Project pricing using historical data and adjust for conditions.
• Review proposals to identify overlaps or gaps in scope.
• Prepare final estimate for rollover to job cost system.
