Job summary

EPI Power is seeking an Estimator I to join our growing team in Des Moines, IA. You will support the estimating group by conducting quantity surveying, bid solicitation, maintaining estimating records, and compiling cost history within the estimating system.

Responsibilities include reviewing plans and specifications, preparing bid-day spreadsheets and cost breakdowns, soliciting subcontractor bids, evaluating cost alternatives, and documenting justification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; construction-related degree preferred.
• Experience in construction, estimating, or related field preferred.
• Must have strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to learn new applications quickly and work independently.
• Detail-oriented with ability to multi-task under time constraints.
• Strong written and verbal communication and analytical skills.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Read and understand technical plans, specs, and documents.
• Develop and maintain estimates, bid tickets, and cost histories.
• Solicit subcontractor bids and ensure full trade coverage.
• Prepare cost breakdowns, schedules of values, and documentation.
• Review proposals to identify scope gaps and cost impacts.
• Assist in final estimate handoff to the job cost system.
