Job summary

Harvard University is seeking a skilled Steamfitter to install, maintain, and repair commercial heating and cooling systems across campus facilities. You will work from detailed mechanical plans, ensure compliance with the Massachusetts Building Code, and support multi-trade teams in various laboratory environments.

This role requires five years of district heating/cooling experience, a MA State License (Journeyman/Master preferred), a valid driver’s license, and a readiness to handle overtime.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years experience installing and maintaining commercial or institutional scale heating and cooling systems.
• Massachusetts State License required, Journeyman or Master Pipefitter's license (preferred) for minimum period of five years.
• Five years' experience maintaining Steam or Hot Water Systems.
• Valid State driver’s license and driving history satisfactory to meet Campus Services standards.
• Demonstrated proficiency in diagnostic testing and troubleshooting equipment.

Responsibilities

• Installs, modifies, and repairs boilers, heating and cooling systems and related equipment.
• Fabricates, installs, modifies and repairs high and low pressure piping systems.
• Interprets mechanical plans and prints; updates as necessary.
• Advise customers on progress and provide responsive customer support in building maintenance operations.
• Ensure work complies with Massachusetts State Building Code and related standards.
• Work independently or as part of a multi-trade team under supervision.
• Willing to work in research labs and around hazardous materials.
• Able to work overtime to support group needs.
• Wear appropriate safety clothing/equipment and maintain a professional image.
