Job summary

Cal Poly Pomona invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor in the Department of Early Childhood Studies. The position focuses on STEAM Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education PK-3, teaching and advising to begin 2027-2028. Candidates should demonstrate research, practice, and commitment to equity in early childhood.

The role will contribute to CEIS and the university’s learn-by-doing philosophy, with service and scholarship expected as part of tenure progress.

Qualifications

• Earned doctorate in Early Childhood Studies, Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Curriculum and Instruction or closely related field by August 2027.
• Evidence of at least one year of PK-3 classroom teaching experience.
• Commitment to social justice, linguistically and culturally sustaining pedagogy.
• Evidence of ongoing scholarly research in the field.
• Cover Letter, Research Statement and/or Teaching Philosophy required.

Responsibilities

• Teach, advise students, and engage in scholarly work leading to publications.
• Provide service to the early childhood education community.
• Contribute to department and college activities within CEIS.
