Sonoma State University in Sonoma, CA seeks an Assistant Professor in Early Childhood Studies to begin August 2027. The position advances a diverse, justice-centered curriculum and prepares professionals in PK-3 education and related fields.

The candidate will teach courses in person and online, supervise PK-3 credential candidates, engage in scholarly activity, advise students, and participate in department and university service and assessment.

Qualifications

• Earned Ph.D. or Ed.D. (or ABD) in Early Childhood Education or related field.
• Teaching credential or equivalent in the field.
• Explicit commitment to social justice and educational equity.
• Evidence or potential of meaningful scholarly activity.
• Currency in child development theory and practice.
• Direct work experience with birth to eight age children and families.
• Demonstrated ability to plan and carry out a research agenda.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural higher education environment.
• Excellent oral, written, and digital communication skills.
• ABD will be considered with a clear path to degree completion.

Responsabilités

• Teach courses in person and online in the Early Childhood Studies major, minor, graduate, and PK-3 ECE credential program.
• Supervise candidates in the PK-3 ECE credential across Sonoma County.
• Engage in scholarly activities: research, conferences, publications.
• Advise students across major, minor, credential, and graduate programs.
• Participate in department, school, and university committees and assessments.
• Foster program assessment and evaluation and maintain currency in the field.
