Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; associate or bachelor’s degree in education, technology, engineering, computer science, arts, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience with youth programs, after-school programming, camps, or makerspaces is preferred.
  • Experience or willingness to learn educational technologies such as robotics, coding platforms, 3D printing, Cricut design, heat press equipment, and digital fabrication tools.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain before the start of employment).

Responsibilities

  • Monitor student participation, attendance, and behavior; promote safety and respect.
  • Collaborate with Program Director to improve programming and student experiences.

Job description

Position Summary

The STEAM Innovation Coordinator serves as the on-site leader of the STEAM Innovation Center, creating an engaging, student-centered environment where innovation, creativity, and hands-on learning thrive. The coordinator oversees the center's daily operations, supports visiting students and educators, manages resources and technology, and ensures that each learning experience reflects the Center's mission of inspiring curiosity, developing future-ready skills, and expanding student access to meaningful STEAM opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
Program Management & Operations
  1. Oversee the daily operations of the STEAM Innovation Center, ensuring all activities are organized, engaging, and operate according to schedule.
  2. Welcome and support visiting students, teachers, and community partners, creating a positive and inclusive learning experience.
  3. Facilitate the implementation of hands-on STEAM learning experiences that align with district curriculum and Innovation Center goals.
  4. Assist with the setup, operation, and supervision of learning stations, including robotics, coding, engineering, 3D printing, Cricut design, heat press projects, digital fabrication, and creative arts activities.
  5. Monitor student participation, attendance, and behavior while promoting a safe and respectful learning environment.
  6. Collaborate with the Program Director to continuously improve programming and student experiences.
Logistics & Coordination
  1. Coordinate the Innovation Center calendar, including school visits, field trips, workshops, special events, and community programs.
  2. Prepare instructional materials, technology, tools, and supplies before each session.
  3. Ensure classrooms and activity stations are fully equipped and ready for instruction.
  4. Communicate regularly with teachers regarding schedules, lesson logistics, and student needs.
Facility & Equipment Management
  1. Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming Innovation Center.
  2. Manage inventory of equipment, consumable supplies, and instructional materials.
  3. Monitor the condition of technology and makerspace equipment, reporting maintenance needs promptly.
  4. Ensure equipment such as 3D printers, robotics kits, Cricut machines, heat presses, computers, and other tools are properly stored, maintained, and ready for use.
  5. Recommend purchases and communicate supply needs to the Program Director to ensure uninterrupted programming.
Student Engagement & Customer Service
  1. Foster an environment that encourages creativity, curiosity, innovation, and collaboration.
  2. Provide excellent customer service to students, educators, families, visitors, and community partners.
  3. Support students in exploring STEAM concepts through inquiry-based, project-based, and design-thinking activities.
  4. Encourage responsible use of technology, equipment, and shared learning spaces.
Safety & Compliance
  1. Ensure all Innovation Center activities comply with district policies, safety regulations, and emergency procedures.
  2. Maintain accurate records, including attendance, equipment usage, inventory, incident reports, and program documentation.
  3. Enforce student behavior expectations and safety protocols for all makerspace equipment and technology.
  4. Ensure proper supervision during all student activities.
Qualifications & Skills

Schedule & Compensation
  • Independent Contractor Position
  • Contract Period: August 10, 2026 – May 16, 2027 (Fall and Spring School Year)
  • Work Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
  • Occasional Saturday availability required for community events, workshops, or special programming.
  • Compensation: $7,200 per semester
