Job summary

St. Martin's Episcopal School in Brookhaven, GA seeks an Innovation and Design Teacher to drive a curriculum across K-4 and 5th-8th grades, focusing on creating, making, innovating, and designing through STEM/STEAM and Problem-Based Learning.

The role includes building an Innovation Lab, teaching K-8 Innovation & Design and robotics, guiding prototyping, and collaborating with colleagues to weave design-thinking into cross-curricular projects across divisions.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in education, master’s degree preferred.
• At least 3 years of teaching experience, preferably in the STEAM subjects.
• Experience in tinkering, making, and design thinking.
• The candidate must have a natural rapport with children and strong classroom management skills.
• Strong Google Apps for Education skills.
• Familiarity with coding and digital design tools.
• Highly effective communication, listening, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

Job Title: Innovation and Design Teacher

Reports to: Head of Middle School

Summary

The Innovation and Design Teacher is a visionary thinker with a passion for inspiring and supporting young people and for collaborating with colleagues. The successful candidate will further develop a curriculum across the Lower (K-4) and Middle (5th-8th) school divisions that teaches students to create, make, innovate, build, and design across STEM/STEAM and Problem-Based Learning.

Physical Requirements

This job is performed indoors; the noise level can range from soft to loud. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, stoop, kneel, walk, talk, read, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to type, finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The position is mobile across the campus, so the employee must be able to switch classrooms throughout the day, moving teaching materials from class to class, and make quick transitions.

Work Schedule and Position Status

The role is a 10-month position that follows the school’s academic calendar. The position is paid over a 12-month period and includes typical daily working hours of Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m., during the academic year. The position is a full-time, benefits-eligible faculty position. The role is salaried and Exempt per FLSA guidelines.
