Job summary

The Mint Gaming Hall Kentucky Downs in Franklin, KY is seeking an enthusiastic bartender to greet guests, upsell the menu, and deliver timely, friendly service at the Steakhouse Bar. You will work with room staff to ensure a smooth dining experience and know the daily specials, cocktails, and wine list.

A high school diploma or GED is preferred; must be 21+, able to obtain work cards and STAR Certification before start.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Must be 21+ and able to obtain work cards, alcohol awareness cards and non-gaming registration as required by local jurisdiction.
• STAR Certification required prior to start date.
• Internal candidates must have six months in their current position and no active disciplinary action during the last six months.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Greets each guest in accordance with sequence of service standards and offers their name and assistance throughout the experience.
• Consistently offers all guests the entire menu and encourages dining at the Steakhouse Bar.
• Engages all guests with a consistently friendly and upbeat personality and strives to establish rapport with all Steakhouse patrons.
• Demonstrates a commitment to a timely and seamless experience for each guest.
• Works collaboratively with all room staff to ensure an efficient flow of service is experienced by each guest.
• Immediately reports any delay in service or guest opportunities to the room manager.
• Is consistently knowledgeable of Chef’s specials and/or any changes to the dining menu, cocktail menu, or wine list.
• Accurately records and places all food and beverage orders and ensures the timeliness of service to all guests.
• Mixes and serves drinks following specified recipes.
• Is capable of accurately pouring with or without a jigger and following specified recipes.
• Maintains complete knowledge of all menu items, liquor brands, beer, and non-alcoholic selections available within the outlet.
• Working knowledge of designated glassware, ingredients, preparation method and garnishes of each drink.
• Working knowledge of food presentation and ability to speak to the dining menu.
• Always maintains a visually appealing and clean bar, including, but not limited to, bar surface, draught area, coolers, wells, sinks, mixing materials, server area and lounge.
• Maintains product inventory and supplies including all liquors, beers, wines, mixes, garnishes, glassware, ice, and miscellaneous bar supplies throughout shift.
• Ensures receipt of accurate payments, balance cash drawer during shift, and maintain security and accuracy of bank.
• Demonstrates skills in guest recovery and requests assistance from management staff as needed.
• Utilizes all opening and closing checklists effectively and carries out all duties in accordance with room standards.
• Maintains regular attendance at scheduled shift and staff meetings.
• Consistently uses all bar equipment, cleaning, and sanitizing products in accordance with all SDS sheets and departmental standards.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred.
• Internal candidates must have been in their current position for at least six months and have no active disciplinary action during the last six months.
• Must be able to obtain required work cards, alcohol awareness cards and non-gaming registration as required by the local jurisdiction.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Must be able to obtain a STAR Certification prior to start date.
