Job Summary
The Barback is responsible for keeping the bar stocked and clean while assisting Bartenders and VIP Bartenders in providing the necessary support to ensure prompt and friendly guest service. Ensures the cleanliness and sanitation of all work areas and equipment in accordance with Health Department standards.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean and well‑organized bar.
- Stock liquor, beer, ice, wine, and glassware throughout the shift.
- Properly label, date, cover, and refrigerate prepped items in the bar.
- Perform opening, closing, and side duties; set up and break down the bar, clean glass/countertops, sweep the floor, and other related tasks.
- Rotate product to maintain freshness.
- Put away liquor/beer orders as necessary.
- Prepare fruit and other garnish and make scratch recipes if applicable.
- Assist the bartender in greeting guests and welcoming them upon arrival to the bar.
- Assist with food delivery and pre‑bussing as necessary based on shift assignment.
- Maintain regular attendance at scheduled shift and staff meetings.
- Use all bar equipment, cleaning, and sanitizing products in accordance with MSDS sheets and departmental standards.
- Provide excellent service to internal and external guests, greeting and interacting with them in a friendly and enthusiastic manner.
- Develop and maintain professional, trusting, and positive working relationships with managers, supervisors, staff, coworkers, guests, and vendors.
- Complete work activities accurately, efficiently, and timely.
- Work safely, following company safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain professionalism and a friendly, approachable demeanor throughout the workday.
- Assist with training/mentoring of new team members as requested.
- Maintain all appearance standards in accordance with uniform guidelines.
- Inform the manager on duty of any irregularities or unusual situations.
- Keep a friendly, calm, and helpful demeanor in high‑stress, fast‑paced environments.
- Act honestly in all interactions and display a high degree of integrity.
- Work independently with little to no supervision or as part of a team.
- Remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for the industry.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED (preferred).
- Internal candidates must have been in their current position for at least six months and have no active disciplinary action during the last six months.
- Ability to work a variety of shifts (day, swing, late‑night, weekend, and holiday).
- Must be able to obtain required work cards, alcohol awareness cards, and nongaming registration as required by local jurisdiction.
- Must be at least 20 years of age or older.
- Must pass all required background checks.
Physical & Mental Demands
- Move in and around the work area throughout the entire workday.
- Stand or walk for extended periods of time.
- Repeat the same movements.
- Engage and interact with guests in a fast‑paced environment.
- Communicate regularly with co‑workers, vendors, and guests both in person and over the phone.
- Answer inquiries and provide assistance accurately.
- Access and interpret information on computer screens.
- Bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, twist, balance, and work at a bar; tolerate temperature changes and frequent immersion of hands in water, cleaning, and sanitizing solutions.
- Work in an environment where smoking is permitted and can be loud with guest chatter, overhead music, and live entertainment.
- Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds; respond to visual and aural cues.
- Operate point of sale, glasswasher, mixing utensils, and other bar equipment.
- Distinguish letters or symbols and maintain eye‑hand coordination.
