Job summary

Merck & Co. in West Point, PA seeks a skilled Stationary Engineer to operate, monitor and maintain building utility systems including water chillers, RO/DI treatment, clean steam, condensate and related equipment.

You will log activities, complete documentation in a cGMP-compliant fashion, and coordinate with the utilities team. The ideal candidate will perform preventive and corrective maintenance, analyze equipment, read blueprints, and follow hazardous energy control procedures while ensuring

Qualifications

• Basic understanding of chemical and water treatment optional but helpful.
• Knowledge of blueprints, P&IDs and control drawings.
• Experience with utility systems and energy management.
• Familiarity with hazardous energy control procedures.

Responsibilities

• Maintain pressures and temperatures of heating/cooling equipment to meet load.
• Operate water treatment and purification systems (RO/DI/softeners).
• Troubleshoot and maintain water systems; disinfect as needed.
• Adhere to cGMP requirements in all activities.
• Record logs, prepare shift reports, and ensure shift communication.
• Assist with maintenance planning and work orders in CMMS.
• Follow safety procedures and participate in hazard controls.
• Operate alarms and dispatch via two-way radio; support team.
• Provide guidance to General Workers and Maintenance staff.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on utility equipment.
