Qualifications

• Valid license for High Pressure Boiler Operating Engineer issued by the NYC Department of Buildings.
• Within ninety days from appointment, certificate of fitness for Standpipe/Automatic Sprinkler/Air Compressor may be required.
• Additional certificates from NYC DEP/FDNY/EPA may be required for handling refrigerants or hazardous materials.

Responsibilities

• Operates, maintains and adjusts boilers, furnaces, engines, pumps, heat exchangers, generators and related equipment in public buildings.
• Performs preventive maintenance and periodic inspections of equipment.
• Takes responsible charge of a watch and supervises subordinate personnel.
• Prepares requisitions for materials and spare parts; trains subordinates and other staff.
• Keeps records, logs meters, gauges and generates reports.
