Job summary

NYC Health + Hospitals in New York seeks a licensed High Pressure Boiler Operating Engineer to operate, maintain and adjust steam power plant and related building systems in our public facilities. This position emphasizes safety, compliance with city codes and proactive maintenance.

The role also requires supervising staff, coordinating preventive maintenance, and keeping detailed logs and reports to ensure reliable operations for residents across the five boroughs.

Qualifications

Valid High Pressure Boiler Operating Engineer license issued by the NYC Buildings Department.
May require additional certificates (Standpipe, Automatic Sprinkler, Air Compressor) within 90 days.
Certificates for Refrigerating Machine Operator or Hazardous Materials may be required depending on assignment.

Responsibilities

Operate, maintain and adjust boilers, furnaces, pumps and associated equipment in public buildings.
Perform periodic inspections and preventive maintenance.
Take charge of a watch and supervise subordinate personnel.
Read and log meters, gauges and other recording devices.
Prepare requisitions for materials and spare parts.
Instruct and train junior staff as needed.
Keep records and generate reports.
