Job summary

University of Montana is seeking a Stationary Engineer to manage campus-wide electricity and steam generation at the CHP Plant. The role supervises gas turbine generators, HRSG, steam turbines, and water treatment systems with Emerson DeltaV and PLC controls.

Qualifications include Montana First-Class Boiler Operator license or eligibility within 30 days, four years’ boiler operation experience, and a Montana driver’s license. Rotating 12-hour shift; full-time benefits apply.

Qualifications

• High school education required; four years of related experience may substitute.
• Must be licensed as First-Class Boiler Operator in Montana or eligible to obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Montana Driver’s License required.
• Experience operating high-pressure boilers and pressure vessels.

Responsibilities

• Maintain campus electrical load and steam pressures for reliable operations.
• Oversee HRSG, steam turbines, and ancillary equipment operation.
• Monitor gauges, meters, and controls to ensure safe operations.
• Document real-time plant operations in logs and records.
• Perform water sampling and record results; input to electronic database.
• Uphold safety and housekeeping standards; rotate shifts.
