Job summary

  • Must possess or obtain a NACI (National Agency Check with Inquiries).

  • Perform startup, operation, and shut down procedures for boilers.
  • Operate and maintain equipment in the Central Energy Plant.
  • Conduct routine inspections and boiler blow downs.

Job Summary

FSI is looking to hire a stationary Engineer to join our team. This position performs repair, overhaul, maintenance, and servicing of commercial and industrial High-Pressure boiler and heating systems and gas/fuel distribution systems, chillers, pumps, compressors, motors and diesel generators. Runs the Central Energy Plant (CEP) to provide uninterrupted utilities to the hospital in normal and emergency conditions. SHIFT:

Thursday 1530pm-2330pm, Sat-Tuesday 2330pm-0730am

  • Perform startup, operation, and shut down procedures for all boilers in normal and abnormal conditions (i.e., low water)
  • Operate equipment in CEP facility and perform routine testing and inspections including but not limited to water sampling, boiler blow downs, diesel generator runs, etc.
  • Operate facility air compressors and associated equipment to supply dry, oil free air to facility
  • Perform repair, overhaul, maintenance, and servicing of all equipment including but not limited to boilers, pumps, chillers, diesel generators, etc.
  • Knowledgeable and skilled in the operation, repair, and maintenance of gas and oil fired high/low pressure boilers, chillers, diesel generators, pumps and compressors
  • Ability to follow electrical distribution, control power, control point monitoring, and troubleshooting of equipment
  • Ability to troubleshoot complicated emergency generator control systems, electrical heating systems, starters, VFDs, and transformers
  • Must be knowledgeable of the principals of various standard methods of combustion ratios and methods of distribution
  • Must be knowledgeable in boiler/water sampling, test, analysis, and chemical adjustment
  • Must be knowledgeable in principles of refrigeration, psychometrics, and thermodynamic concepts; and can apply them to equipment installed
  • Utilizes the Building Automation System(s) to drive operations and efficiencies of the hospital and to monitor alarms from the remote energy plant monitoring system.
  • Performs Preventative Maintenance tasks on a monthly basis, but is to finish such tasks by the 15th of a given month, excluding PMs of a weekly frequency
  • Must have the ability to use hand tools, test equipment and instruments, welding equipment and shop machines utilized by craft
  • Maintain temperatures of various hot and chilled closed-water loops
  • At all times maintain a professional manner

Responsibilities Include The Following. Other Duties May Be Assigned.

Additional

  • Electrical, substations, refrigeration, plumbing, heating, air conditioning, ventilating systems, safe operation, and repairs.
  • OSHA safety rules, including lock out tag out.
  • Ability to:
    • Troubleshoot, repair, regulate, and control electrical, hydronic, refrigeration, plumbing, heating, air conditioning, and ventilating systems, and portable equipment.
    • Demonstrate knowledge to safely work in a medium-high voltage substation.
    • Accurately determine time and materials required for a job.
    • Fabricate items, using hand and power tools.
    • Coordinate and work with other staff members to achieve project deadlines.
    • Read and comprehend schematics, blueprints, and shop drawings.
    • Communicate verbally and in writing.
    • All appropriate safety practices for working with hand and power tools.
    • Identify and resolve failures/alarms related to critical building equipment.
    • Capable in Microsoft Office to communicate via email, maintain plant logs, obtain information regarding operation/maintenance of facility, review training materials, etc.
    • Maintain a clean working environment.
Education And/or Work Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and three (3) years’ experience in a healthcare or similar regulated industrial setting as a Stationary Engineer/Boiler Operator and, any combination of education and experience, which would provide the required knowledge and skills, is qualifying.
  • A.S. degree in Mechanical Electrical Technology (MET) or Equivalent or
  • Completion of MECH Certification or
  • Completion of an accredited Apprenticeship program for Operating Engineer or
  • Documented Military Journeyman level or higher for respective trade(s) and
  • Engineers License
  • Qualified High-Pressure Boiler Operator
  • Valid Driver’s License and insurable driving record
  • Universal Refrigeration Certification EPA 608
  • BAS Training/Certification (Preferred)
  • BOC- Building Operator Certification (Preferred)
  • NFPA 70 and 70E (Preferred)
  • Knowledge of NFPA, NEC, TJC, OSHA, Local, State and Federal Code (Preferred)
  • All state or federal requirements; or any license or certification that may be required by the contract in which the employee is working.
  • Must possess or obtain a NACI (National Agency Check with Inquiries)
