Job summary

WV Department of Human Services is seeking a Youth Service Worker to assess cases and provide social services for West Virginia youth and families. Travel and on-call hours may be required, with an in-house training program provided.

Responsibilities include preparing social assessments, coordinating with professionals across child welfare and education, developing case plans, and assisting clients in achieving habilitation and educational goals. A valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to maintain detailed case records and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare social assessments.
• Interact with a variety of professionals in social work, mental health, developmental disabilities, education, juvenile delinquency, and counseling to assess client needs.
• Develop client case plans to accomplish habilitation and rehabilitation and to provide social services to attain goals.
• Work within the court system for juvenile delinquency and status offenses by preparing social assessments.
• Locate services for clients, including out-of-home care such as foster care or residential treatment.
• Counsel clients and families in achieving the goals of case plans.
• Counsel clients to correct delinquent behavior; monitor progress under the court's supervision.
• Speak before educational and community organizations about available services and develop community resources.
• Write reports on case findings and summaries of client social and financial circumstances.
