Job summary

The State of Missouri is seeking a State School Safety Coordinator to lead statewide school safety initiatives from Jefferson City. You will centralize diverse programs, align operations across DPS and partners, and advance a cohesive safety framework tailored to Missouri’s districts.

Responsibilities include gap analyses, benchmarking, legislative guidance, and coordinating grants and training materials for educators, law enforcement, and first responders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent experience in a related field.
• Progressively responsible experience in school safety planning, emergency management, or public policy coordination.
• Travel across Missouri for on-site district assessments and stakeholder engagements.

Responsibilities

• Lead statewide school safety initiatives and align efforts across agencies.
• Conduct statewide gap analyses on security, threat assessment, and emergency planning.
• Synthesize programs into a unified statewide safety framework and benchmark against best practices.
• Identify legislative gaps and propose policy updates and grant opportunities.
• Advise districts with planning guides, equipment programs, and expert consultations.
• Coordinate grant tracking and disseminate model safety plans and training materials.
