Job summary

The Press Secretary (SES) role in Tallahassee leads media relations for the division and supports the Communications Director in statewide events. You will set up press conferences, draft speeches, talking points and press materials, and coordinate responses to inquiries while traveling weekly to cover events.

Requires strong communication skills, experience drafting public statements, and the ability to supervise staff in a fast-paced state government environment.

Qualifications

• Four years of experience in communications preferred.
• Post-secondary degree in communications may substitute for experience.
• Must have on-the-record media experience and drafting responses.

Responsibilities

• Manage media inquiries and set up press conferences.
• Draft press releases, talking points and speeches for events.
• Coordinate slides/graphics for presentations and public events.
• Travel across the state weekly to support events and media coverage.
• Supervise team members and align messaging with department goals.
