Job summary

New Mexico Legal Aid seeks a paralegal for its Statewide Housing Stability program to assist with housing stability efforts and statewide clinics. The role involves statewide duties and preference for an Albuquerque office to work with the Statewide Housing Stability Manager.

The Paralegal will assist attorneys with litigation support, eviction prevention, habitability, accommodations, and housing initiatives. Strong communication and travel willingness are required.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience as a paralegal preferred, exceptional entry-level considered.
• Hope to develop expertise in housing and statewide resources for low-income persons.
• Ability to use computer technology and remote communications, including online workspaces and web/video conferencing.
• Ability to collaborate with staff across multiple offices.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and build relationships within staff and the community served.
• Statewide position requiring regular travel.
• Spanish proficiency is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist attorneys with litigation support.
• Assist with eviction prevention, habitability, and reasonable accommodations.
• Support subsidized and low-income housing initiatives, including tax credit programs.
• Help design statewide housing clinics and outreach programs.
• Process intakes and draft pleadings.
• Contact clients and coordinate with other service agencies.
• Support attorneys in court preparation and arrange legal clinics.
• Engage in outreach and referrals to services.
