Job summary

The State of Indiana is seeking a Data Support Specialist to oversee statewide program data, ensuring alignment with federal and state requirements. You will manage data collection, analysis, and reporting to support compliance and performance metrics.

Responsibilities include developing analytic reports, supporting staff with data tools, and presenting findings to stakeholders. A bachelor’s degree and 2–3+ years of data experience are required, with strong Excel/SQL/Tableau/Power BI skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Business, or related field.
  • 2–3+ years of experience working with raw data for analytics including data stored in databases.
  • Proficiency with data using Microsoft Excel, SQL, Tableau, Power BI, and Python.
  • Ability to synthesize complex information into actionable recommendations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Working knowledge of accounting and budget principles.
  • Significant attention to data quality and data preparation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all required data activities for BDS and ensure compliance with federal and programmatic requirements.
  • Develop meaningful data analytic reports that capture all services delivered through BDS.
  • Lead and manage support provided to all state staff and local personnel in data collection and daily use of data systems.
  • Prepare reports and presentations with analysis for the BDS director to present to stakeholders on a routine basis.
  • Provide data and analysis for the development of policies and procedures related to monitoring and quality assurance findings.
  • Collect, analyze and report on compliance at regional, office, and provider levels.
  • Collaborate with BDS staff on data reporting and training strategies.
  • Assist in preparing presentations, training curricula, and user guides as needed.
  • Recommend strategies for improving compliance, including training needs assessment.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
